On August 31, 2002, the first 300,000DWT VLCC ordered by COSCO Dalian was launched successfully in Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called NACKS), as the first 300,000DWT VLCC built in China for Chinese Shipping Company. It is the most modern crude oil carrier with the maximum shipping capacity in China, which will be completed and delivered to the ship owner at the end of 2002. On September 2, the first block of second VLCC was loaded in the dock.
In 2002, the production and business activities of NACKS have entered into a new stage: On August 26, the first steel-plate of 49,000DWT Bulk Carrier ordered by COSCO Jiangsu was cut. The naming and delivery ceremony of the second 47,500DWT Bulk Carrier ordered by SINOTRANS, “GREAT SCENERY” was held successfully on August 28.
